Choosing the Hotel du Continent and its inimitable atmosphere created by the interior designer Christian Lacroix proves that you enjoy something out of the ordinary. In the same spirit, why not turn your visit to Paris into an adventure of exploration and discovery? Here are some of our favourites among the capital’s more unusual museums...
Unusual museums for all tastes
Already been to the Louvre, the Orsay Museum and Notre-Dame Cathedral? Paris has plenty more places of interest to visit, including some rather unusual museums. One of our favourites is undoubtedly the Musée des Arts Forains (Museum of Fairground Arts), located in Bercy Village. Entirely dedicated to the fairground attractions of the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries, it invites you into a magical world of rides, automata and games. A permanent collection that can only be visited by appointment!
Chocolate, wine, magic; treat yourself!
Indulge your inner chocoholic with a trip to the ChocoStory, the Chocolate Museum, where you can learn about the long history of chocolate, see it being made and participate in workshops and tastings. The Musée du Vin (Wine Museum) takes you on a trip through the history of this great French heritage product. Treat yourself to a family-friendly outing to the Musée de la Magie (Museum of Magic) where you can see amazing illusionist artefacts and enjoy a live magic show.
Paris boasts a wealth of relatively little known but utterly fascinating museums that are original and unusual. Just about everything can be found in Parisian museums; it's up to you to discover these wonderful places!
